Relaxation is the area’s main draw, and there are plenty of beachside activities to keep you busy. Kailua also has a family atmosphere with many excellent schools in the area.
Dining, Entertainment, and Shopping
Although Kailua is a residential community, it also has excellent shopping and dining destinations. The following places are only a few of the many delicious options in the area: Try Cinnamon's Restaurant Kailua, the perfect place to find brunch and lunch with various unique flavors. Another popular option is Buzz’s Steak House, a favorite destination for pupus and cocktails. Baci Bistro is a delicious restaurant great for Italian fares, such as pasta, paninis, salads, and much more. Nico’s is a great choice for seafood and classic Hawaiian cuisine. There’s also some great shopping to be found in Kailua. Kailua General Store is a great place to find local clothing, home products, shoes, and body care items. Island Snow is a lifestyle brand local to Hawaii that sells boutique clothing and accessories and more prominent brands such as Patagonia. Global Village offers upscale and casual clothes and homemade jewelry, while SoHa Living Kailua is a home goods store that sells everything from home decor to jewelry and baby goods.
Things to Do
Being a coastal town, Kailua has plenty of fun activities and things to do. Whether you want to attend a local event or relax at the beach or park, Kailua has something to offer. One of the best events in the area is the “I Love Kailua” Town Party, a street fair featuring local vendors who sell food, arts and crafts, and plants, as well as educational and entertainment booths. Another place to find local vendors is the Kailua Farmers’ Market, held on Sundays at the Kailua Town Center. It’s the perfect place to find local produce and goods. If you’re looking for an entertaining way to spend a day, the Mid-Pacific Club is a country club with an 18-hole golf course and various wellness classes. If you’re not interested in golf but still want to get outdoors, take a walk along Pillbox Hike, a short trail featuring views of military bunkers and Lanikai Beach. Kailua Beach Park is a must-go, as its beautiful sandy beaches and blue ocean water make for the perfect beach day.
